1 kW Alkaline Fuel Cell

Texaco Ovonic Battery Company (2000-2001)

Ovonic is well known for its developement in the range of hydrogen storage alloy. Therefore Ovonic wished to create an "Instant Start Fuel Cell" which has an anode made of strorage alloy. Ovonic also determined, that our Cathode catalyst should be substituted by catalyst provided by the company.

The fabrication of our elektordes and our stacks was so promising that Ovonic decided to start the development of the fuel cell with us. First of all we produced gas diffusion electrodes on our roll and tested them on a half cell. The tests were successful and we built the first alkaline fuel cell stacks with this GDE.

We managed to build a 1 kW stack with complete new material after very few month.
