Test Stand for PEM Fuel Cells
Henschel Wehrtechnik (1999)
In 1999 we built a test stand for PEM fuel cells with an electrical power output of 2 kW.
The customer was the Kassel based company Henschel Wehrtechnik.
The test stand had an elaborate feedback control for the gases.
One could operate the fuel cell under constant pressure or constant
flow conditions. The stoichiometric value was adjustable as well as the
humidity of both gases. Both operation with air and with oxygen was feasible.
The cooling was done by a stainless steel heat exchanger manufactured
especially for this application.
Data logging and control were carried out by an industrial PC. Gas pressures
in front of and behind the cell, gas flows, humidity, temperature, electrical
current, stack voltage and up to 12 single cell voltages were logged during operation.
