Silver-Electrodes for Chlorine-Alkali Elektrolysis
Uhde GmbH (1998 - 2004)
In 1998 we started cooperating with Krupp-Uhde GmbH (now Uhde GmbH)
in the field of chlorine-alkali electrolysis by using
gas diffusion electrodes as cathodes.
We could provide Uhde with modified Slilflon-electrodes
(originally developed by Hoechst AG) as well as with our
own development - the Oxag Electrode. These electrodes were
tested for weeks in Bitterfeld and Gersthofen (both in Germany)
in electrolysis cells with an active area of 0.16 mē.
With 4 kA/mē we achieved a stable cell voltage of 2.2 V. After
this promising result we started tests with wider electrodes
in order to apply them in cells with a bigger active area.
Because of this good and innovative cooperation we will equip
a pilot plant with these electrodes in the near future.
