ETOS - Electrification of Technical Organic Syntheses
Laplace pressure-controlled gas diffusion electrodes for organic electrosynthesis (GDE4OES)
The objectives of the work at Gaskatel GmbH are summarized below:
1. Cell design for non-aqueous, poorly conductive electrolytes with the option of a three-electrode arrangement and adaptation to high current densities, as expected with gas diffusion electrodes. The option of a two-chamber measuring cell with separate anolytes and catholytes. Consideration of hydrostatic pressure with fine-mesh electrodes.
2. Adaptation and testing of the miniature hydrogen reference electrode for non-aqueous electrolytes. The electrolytes are defined within the consortium, and the possible conducting salts and buffer systems are identified. Gaskatel can then adapt and characterize the reference electrodes for these applications.
3. Development of a double-skeleton electrode, i.e., with two different pore radii in different layers. After identifying the possible catalysts and electrolytes, Gaskatel can begin sourcing the materials and applying double-skeleton electrodes, or two-layer electrodes.

ZiMaBat
Rechargeable zinc-manganese battery with pH-neutral electrolyte
The aim of the overall project is to develop a rechargeable zinc-manganese battery with a pH-neutral electrolyte and corrosion-resistant components.
For measurements in the project partners' test cells, the two individual electrodes of the pH combination electrode must be located on an equipotential surface to prevent interference from field lines. This requires miniaturization or a redesign of the pH electrode.
